Question by David: How much lesson planning do high school teachers do?
I plan on teaching math next year, and my girlfriend (an elementary education major) tells me that I will need to spend hours planning each step of my lessons. As a business major, I wonder why not just buy a book with lesson plans already written (rather than reinventing the peel year after year) and adapting it if I need to.
Is this allowed? Are high school math teachers to produce original lesson plans? Why? Especially since math doesn't exactly change much year to year, so, why write lesson plans instead of buying them?
