What is a good book to introduce me to hiking?

Question by California Guy: What is a good book to introduce me to hiking?

I just came back from yosemite and the 8 mile hike I took felt really good, so much so that I want to make a hobby out of it. Does anyone know of a good book to help introduce me to hiking and backpacking?

Seriously? You need a book for hiking?
Seems to me that if you can do an 8mile hike you are already there, however you could go to some camping/hiking/fishing stores, they will most likely have maps of the hiking trails in that area, as well as good local knowledge!
