Question by Bull's No 9: What do South Africans think of the state of their national museums?

I visited the old Transvaal Museum on Saturday and found myself disgusted with the overall maintenance of the facilities, as well as the displays, which have not been upgraded in over 25 years, pathetic.
Is culture not the backbone of a civilised society and surely with all the funds that the ANC frequently embezzles and abuses, funding could be found if the desire existed to upgrade these museums and other cultural facilities such as public libraries, etc?

I thought the District Six museum was quite interesting and quite well maintained. Bru, we are going through an economic recession in the world, don't fortget that...money for museums is a luxury.
