The Water Gate Inn was opened by Marjory Hendricks who also founded the Normandy Farm restaurant in Potomac Maryland. Normandy Farm centered on French Provincial cuisine (and decor), but the Water Gate Inn sported colorful Pennsylvania Dutch decor and American food, like Amish Preaching Soup, Popovers, Mennonite Baked Chicken, Corn Pudding Ephrata, Shrimp Wiggle Esche Puddle, Softshell Crab Pimlico, Barbara Fritchie Sugar House Pie and many other yummy things.
